Best for your budget: "Rooms are small at
The Halcyon Hotel, but the amenities are astonishing - private
bath, TV, telephones with voice mail, microwave, coffee maker,
refrigerator, clock-radio, hair dryer and washer-dryer in the

" In a charming little building, where it
is necessary to reserve ahead most of the time, [the owner]
keeps an exceptionally meticulous house. Rooms are stylishly
furnished, with each room having its own personality. Very comfortable,
(most with wet-bar, refrigerator, microwave oven, TV, cassette
player, private telephone line with free local calls, etc.)
Washer and dryer facilities are available. Very attractive weekly
rates. Extra advantage: good information on the city. At The
Halcyon Hotel, nothing is impossible

[T]his

"[Owner, Joey Wolosz] offers a no-nonsense,
down-to-the-basics housing service which amounts to one of San
Francisco's best deals for the traveler who doesn't mind taking
care of herself. A white-washed brick building on Hones, edging
into the Tenderloin, Brady Acres is more of an apartment building
for out-of-towners than a typical hotel. The majority of guests
are people relocating to the city or experienced visitors who
come again and again. All 25 units have private baths and are
equipped with mini-kitchens that include a microwave oven, sinks,
refrigerator, coffeemaker, toaster and dishes cutlery and glasses.
Linens are supplied. There is a laundry room in the building
and if you want clean sheets every day, you can have them as
long as you wash them yourself. There's no central desk. Guests
are given a key and voice mail in your room takes messages.
[The] staff are helpful, interested in their guests and full
of great advice and info about the city and the trips beyond
San Francisco
Weekly and monthly rates are also available." |

" Most of this hotel's 25 studio rooms are
rented by the week
and you get all the creature comforts:
a room with a bed; a private, newly tiled bathroom with tub,
shower and towels; a dining area equipped with everything from
microwave to flatware, as well as TV and radio; and a private
phone line complete with voice mail. Units usually have a wet
bar with sink, and there's a coin-operated washer-dryer downstairs,
with free laundry soap to boot . The hosts of The Halcyon Hotel
can even get you a good rate on an Alamo Car rental as discounted
parking at the garage around the corner. With this kind of deal
- and a prime location in Union Square - you may never want
to go home. Ask about package deals like stay-six-nights-and-get-one-free.
